A new coffee experience for the 21st Century is coming to Southampton with the launch of the first Mozzo Community Coffee Cart™ - an innovative, community focused retail venture that combines coffee, art and community.
Mozzo© has been developed by two Southampton Institute graduates, Damian Snow, 25 from Chichester, and Grant Lang, 23 from London.
The Mozzo Community Coffee Cart is based on a Tuk Tuk motor vehicle sourced from Thailand. The boys at Mozzo have developed the Tuk Tuk into a bespoke trading platform from which Mozzo will deliver a quality FairTrade coffee served using a traditional, manual leaver espresso machine.
Designed to bring a little extra colour to Southampton's City Centre the Mozzo cart also features an 'on-cart art gallery'. Mozzo working in partnership with Southampton's art galleries and groups will thrust Southampton's artistic talent into the visual conscience of a growing city.
However, art is only the start of the Mozzo cart conversion. The energy requirements of Mozzo's operations will be met by solar and wind power technology integrated into the design and build of the cart to minimise the impact on Southampton's environment and demonstrate Mozzo's commitment to the community.
Rick Harwood, Business Coach for the West Itchen Community Trust which has worked with Grant and Damian as part of its SO14 enterprise project, comments,
"The environmental aspect of the coffee cart is incredible and for them to be so young and care for the environment is great to see."
Damian, 2004 BSc (Hons) Yacht Manufacturing and Surveying graduate, explains,
"The word Mozzo originates from Italy and means hub. Mozzo represents a funky community hub where quality coffee meets Southampton's artistic talent and environmental best practice."
Grant, 2004 BA (Hons) Business Management graduate adds,
"We are determined at Mozzo to prove that business today can operate successfully, whilst making a truly responsible and positive impact within the local community and environment."
Robin McDonald, Economic Development Officer at Southampton City Council, has been working with Damian and Grant to develop the Mozzo Community Coffee Cart. He adds,
"It's so exciting to see such an innovative idea in Southampton. I see this as an opportunity for growth and the Economic Development team has been happy to support them in anyway it can."
The Mozzo Community Coffee Cart will begin trade at the old Bargate Walls and at Houndwell Park in the city centre in the next couple of weeks, so make sure you pay the guys a visit.
