Five design students from Southampton Institute showcased their work to a national audience as they featured in Computer Arts magazine's 2005 Graduate Showcase - The Best of British Design supplement - sponsored by Adobe.
Computer Arts is the world's best selling creative magazine and the publication was a 32-page guide to the hottest British Design talent. It featured the work of Carl Redgrove, Jordan Clapham, Peter Routh, Neil Pinkawa from BA (Hons) Graphic Image Making and Laura Webster from BA (Hons) Fashion. Their work was selected from hundreds of student entries studying at universities throughout the UK.
Carl's work was featured in the Illustration and 2D section and was one of a series of images created using 'Illustrator' for a book. Also in this section was Laura Webster's collection of illustrations that followed the creation of her all women's extremist snowboard brand. Neil Pinkawa created architectural illustrations using 'Cinema 4D' and 'PhotoShop' for a Dorset-based property developer, which appeared in the Three Dimensional section. In the Graphic Design section, Jordan produced illustrations for a comic and poster in response to a D&AD project brief to create awareness for Kirin beer, while Peter's work in the Moving image section was a selection of still images from a short animation produced as part of his final major project.
Ken Marsden, Head of Design (Enhancement), comments:
"This fantastic achievement will not only boost the students' confidence but also help to increase their chances of entering the highly competitive creative industries. Further, it's another good example that shows the range of innovative design talent we possess here at the Institute."
